Diesel prices in Europe
The chart shows the prices of diesel fuel in European countries. In general, diesel as well as unleaded gasoline are expensive in Europe compared to the rest of the world. The reason is that European governments impose high taxes on fuel in order to reduce consumption, combat environmental problems, and collect tax revenue. Still, there is quite a bit of variation across countries. Diesel is generally cheaper in the eastern parts of the continent compared to Western Europe.
