Transport prices in Portugal

There are several means of transport available in Lisbon - trains, buses, electric trams and underground.

Using the underground is probably the most efficient way of getting around in the capital, as it is pretty fast and reliable. The fare for a single ride within one zone is about €0.90 (€1.15 for two zones). A one day ticket (valid for 24h, unlimited journeys) costs about €3.95.

The main bus operator is "Carris" (at their website you can see full information on routes, fares, network, etc.). The fare for a single ride is €0.90. The same operator also runs the electric trams in the city.

The best way to use the public transport is to buy a "7 Colinas" ("Viva Viagem") card, which is reusable, and can be topped up with cash. The price of the card is €0.50. The card cannot be used on buses that are not run by the Carris Company, though.

The Lisboa Card is a way of using all means of the public transport for free. It also gives you free or discounted entries to most of the tourist sites in Lisbon. Price of a one-day valid card is €17.50, and for two days the price is €29.50. The official website on Lisbon metro
